It’s not just a phase. It’s your life.
I’m going to bet that you didn’t end up here by doing a search for “therapists with cats.” (If you did, I’m sorry to say that Dexter does not come to work with me, even though he is a living metaphor about the futility of chasing one’s tail.)
Maybe you are here because somebody close to you keeps referring to some aspect of your identity as “just a phase,” and you would like reassurance to the contrary and support in staying true to yourself. Or perhaps you are entering a new stage of life—adolescence, early adulthood, midlife—and need help navigating new roles and responsibilities. Whatever your reason for considering therapy, and wherever you are on your journey, I’m glad you’re here, preparing to reach out to someone.
